Guppy

The Guppy is a nickname used to refer to the GBP/JPY currency pair. Traders like to create shorthand ways of describing the assets they trade on a regular basis.

This is done for the sake of brevity but also to create a lingo for insiders. This specific pair came to be known as the Gu-ppy simply by taking the first, third and last letter of the pair.
